The Buna Tetu ceremony is a daily tradition in Ethiopian and Eritrean culture, led by women. In the ceremony, green coffee beans are washed, roasted over an open flame, ground, then brewed and served from a traditional clay jebena pot. The aroma of roasted coffee intermingles with burning frankincense to create an atmosphere of peace and healing.
The gathering goes beyond a coffee break. This ritual of slow coffee creates space for people to chat about everyday matters, engage in deep conversation, and connect with one another emotionally and spiritually, a vital component in building community.
Flowers and Coffee partners with Merkato Ethiopian Market to hold this special ceremony in community spaces across the city of Jacksonville, FL.
